it's time you learned a thing or two about my family

because they are all really great. first off, happy birthday to my mom! bummer she was probably slaving away cooking a thanksgiving meal on her bday so i hope she had a lot of help. i miss her bad.
my oldest sister sarah (see 5th picture down...she's holding her baby) is really smart.she is the one i would always call in college for help on my papers. she earned me most of my A's, and then i earned myself b's and c's and d's. she has the most beautiful eyes and has past them down to her cute kids. she is an artist and a dang good one. She makes really healthy food tastes really good somehow. she has a really cool husband that can do anything that may seem physically impossible to most. like run up a mountain.

my sister ann, (see picture below) is one of the funnest people to be around. i was lucky enough to live with her and her husband brian in oregon when i was a senior in high school. ann is one of those people who allows you to be yourself and feel comfortable around because she is so easy going. she is nice to everyone and is always serving. she's a really hot mom and has a cute family and a ridiculously beautiful home that she decorated. her husband built it and can build anything with perfection.
my brother charley, (see picture above and in another one) is the kind of person that you can always learn from. he always has a lot of good things to say that you might have thought of before but could never articulate them like he does. he is comfortable being himself and he is so smart and determined and sooo funny. no one can compete with his one-liners. or nicknames. or imitations. or anything that has to do with being really funny. his wife kitten(see picture above and in another one) ok fine her name isn't kitten, it's kat. anyway kat is like an olympic champion only not in the olympics. but she easily could be. she is so athletic, so pretty and fashionable, so real, so confident, so nice, and i really look up to her.

my brother scotty (see picture above and below) passed away in a car accident eight years ago. he was one of my best friends and could make anyone around him smile and laugh. he was definitely one of a kind. he had so many good qualities that are hard to come by. like everyone else in my family, he was was absolutely hilarious and had no problem being himself. i miss him tons and still think about him everyday.
then there is me...that fat baby above.
audge is really cool and you have already learned a lot about her in a post a little while ago. but some added info about her: she is on the byu womens rugby team. cool huh? when she started playing rugby i wasn't surprised because ya she is pretty and small but the last person you would want to get physical with because she could take anyone out. she is tough. i just wish i lived by her still.
seth (see pic above and others) is my little brother and my favorite boy that is younger than me in the whole world. seth is at byu-i (lucky) and all the girls want him. why? because i taught him everything he knows, probably. but also because he is so nice and such a gentleman! i am always amazed at how cool he is. he is funny and sends hilarious texts and can quote whole entire movies. and always tears it up in the "what's this off of?"game.
my mom is my best friend.(see pics 3,4,6) there is nothing my mom isn't good at. she teaches seminary and i was lucky because she was my seminary teacher for two years. she is just so smart and realistic and SO generous and talented. i am always learning from her. she is a great example to me. she always talks about how when she dies she wants to be known as being funny. like i've already promised her i will talk about how funny she was at her funeral. and i will because i won't be lying. the lady can make me die of laughter.
my pops (see 3rd and 4th pictures) is one of the greatest examples of hard work that i have every known. there has always been a strong emphasis in our family on working hard and being responsible and he definitely always set the example. my dad is very wise and i always love it when i get to see him. he is such a man and not a little ninny baby like some men can be. he doesn't expect to be waited on and i love that about him.

wow. never wrote so much in my life...and the thing is, i just barely scratched the surface with how great my family is. i have been missing them this thanksgiving and will on Christmas too.
i am grateful for them, and for john who is the coolest, nicest, funnest, smartest, most unique and talented person i know. i love living here in Virginia because i live here with him.

never knew i could be so sentimental did you? me either it's shocking.

my bestie, also known and my little sister audge, has her birthday coming up. on saturday. she is turning 21....right? yea 21. whoa. i loved living close to her in provo for the past year and a half. she goes to byu and i'm telling you she is the coolest zoobie around. we would be so lazy together i loved it.
eat. lay down. talk. lay out. go on casual bike rides for fun and to get tan. go to taco bell. watch america's next top model. go to the gym and put in a good 15 minutes worth of stretching and then go home.
ok maybe not THAT lazy. or maybe. you will never know. anyway the point is i miss her a lot and already have made big plans to name one of my kids after her. AUDGE. preferably a girl but maybe i will get stuck with all boys and then one of those boys will get stuck with audge.

Hey Audge this is John wishing you the best birthday. 21 years ago on your b-day you were floating in amniotic fluid in the warm comfort of your mother's tummy. Nutrients were flowing in and out of your body through the umbilical cord and life was GOOD. And then, of course, you were brought out of that environment through a series of physical stimuli both in and out of your mom and SNIP! WHACK! And that's what we're celebrating.

happy birthday audge. love, john and laura

Past Halloweens

Looking through a lot of old pictures brought back some good Halloween memories.

this here is a picture of me and my really cool friend, stella in 2005. i was laundry. i cut out the bottom of a round laundry basket and put around my waist then filled it with clothes and detergent and such.

this is halloween 2006. i needed a quick costume really short notice for a show in rexburg. nerd. (for all you rexburg friends, do you guys remember when they had shows in the back of the senior citizen center? some of you were probably there that night.) go party pandas?! gulp.
another 2006 er. captain jack sparrow. and a mighty good one if i don't say so myself.

2007. little red riding hood. does john look like a real cop or what? at parties that night everyone always did a double take to see if he was a cop coming to bust some chops.

2008. david bowie. the labyrinth. the goblin king. you remind me of the babe....
speaking of babe, holy crap audge! meeeooowww.

and for this year? pictures soon to be posted. post halloween of course

i thought leaves were green

every day i think about the west and the landscape out there. the wide open space, the tall mountains that poke straight out of the ground, the pretty sunsets, etc. i think i might be a little bit too cramped here, not being able to see for miles around me when i'm driving and such. but that doesn't mean it's not beautiful here. and that doesn't mean i am not obsessed with these fall colors.
